Blog 10: English Language Challenges

Imagen
Hello everyone. My experience learning English at university has been fun. Both the face-to-face classes and the online exercises have helped me to improve my English considerably. I was able to understand English conversations more clearly, although speaking it and generating sentences is still difficult for me, but I think I can do better now. I have not thought about what to do with this that I have learned, but I suppose it will be a good thing for any CV. Outside of class, I usually use English to understand English-language movies or video games. I also usually watch streams of people who speak English, so thanks to the English classes I can understand all this better. Still, I have to support myself with English subtitles because sometimes I don't understand what they are saying just by listening. Understanding written English is easier because even if you don't know all the words it is intuitive, so that has never been a problem for me, and now less. It has been diffi...

Blog 9: Changes to My Study Program

Imagen
Hello everyone. In my experience in the career of Theory and History of Art I can say that there is much to fix. In the case of the program, perhaps there are many things to change, but the most important of all is the infamous CFBT course, in which I literally learned nothing and it seems that the only requirement to pass is patience. This is a course where students from all arts majors are mixed to teach general art history classes, the problem is that the number of students for the course is excessive, it is not even divided into two sections, so you even have to sit on the floor when going to class and sometimes some had to look standing from the entrance of the class. The evaluations are group assignments made up of 10 people, that is, we all know how difficult it is to coordinate a job between 4 people equally ... So a group of 10 just doesn't work, the only thing that justifies a group this large is that it will be easier for teachers to review fewer assignments, but this id...

Blog 8: Personal Opinions

Hello again. I decided to talk about human relationships. I'm not sure what to say, so I'm just going to ramble. I am not someone who talks a lot, but it’s not because I am shy, it’s because I am not a person of many words, so my way of relating to people is usually somewhat cold or distant. I have people to play with, people to talk to, or people to work with, but I have never felt a deep closeness to anyone except my parents. Maybe I'm a very capricious person who has a very delicate concept of "friendship", but I find it difficult to consider someone as such, and I have no problems with that because I think I get along with myself lol. This brings me empathy problems, because I have close people who suffer for friends, for love or something like that, but I cannot understand all that because I have ...

Blog 7: An Interesting Hobby/ free-time activity

Imagen
Hello everyone again. Today I will talk about some of my favorite hobbies. M y favorite hobby is writing, but since I have already talked about that in a past blog, I will talk about my other interests in my free time. One of my hobbies is playing video games. I usually like to play first person shooters (FPS) like Csgo, Valorant, Overwatch, among others. I like competitiveness, so I usually rank a lot in these games (On Valorant and Overwatch I got diamond rank). I also play other types of video games like The legend of Zelda, The Witcher, Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, etc. I really enjoy open worlds, action, or a good story, so these keep me chill in my moments of relaxation.   Another thing that I liked to do in my free time is play basketball sometimes, but with the pandemic I haven't done it in a long time :( So for now I just read, write or play video games to pass the time. I also watch series sometimes, the last ones I saw were The Mandalorian 2 and The Witcher ( Yes,...

Blog 6: Post Graduate Studies

Hi everyone! Personally, I am not interested in a postgraduate degree in relation to my career, therefore I believe that I will take advantage of this instance to talk about another career that I would like to study if I have the possibility. I am currently studying art theory and history, so it won't be a surprise to say that I would like to study history as such. I have always liked to know about the events of the past, I have a good memory with the dates and relevant data, so it would be very interesting to study this. It would not be a completely different career from what I am studying now, since I could better understand the historical context in which the different works of art were made, perhaps finding more certain meanings and relationships thanks to the expanded knowledge of the different times. Likewise, art is not the only one that interests me, but history in general, so I could consider focusing on something else if that ends up passionate me, maybe being a history t...

Blog 5: My Future Job

Imagen
Hello everyone. I am not person with many aspirations, so I haven’t thought so much about a future job that I would like to have. I've thought about the possibilities, but nothing really that I'm passionate about, I just feel like writing is what I want to do all my life. I have written different things, about how I feel, thoughts about society or sometimes even little novels. In my career, theory and history of art, I have greatly enhanced this little hobby thanks to different subjects. I am not only learned to write academically, because I also had the opportunity to experience new ways of expressing myself thanks to Professor Federico Galende and also with the different essays throughout the career. This is why in the future, rather than thinking about a job, I see myself writing books or small essays. Obviously this will not give me enough money to live haha, but I see it as a job that I would like to do in conjunction with something else, maybe as an art gallery curator, w...

Blog 4: Favorite movie/ anime

Today I want to tell you about one of my favorite anime: Jojos Bizarre Adventures. This is a manga series written by Hirohiko Araki.  The anime is about the adventures of the Joestar lineage, a family that is involved in various supernatural problems starting with Dio Brando, an adoptive brother of the first Jojo, Jonathan Joestar, who becoming a vampire against whom Jonathan must fight with the help of the Hamon, a power of the sun's energy. The story continues with Joseph Joestar, Jonathan's grandson, and then with Jotaro Kujo, Joseph's grandson, and it is here where the author decides to introduce the "Stands", which is a power based on the manifestation of the soul that can have different abilities according to the user. The adventure then continues with Josuke Higashikata, another grandson of Joseph, and later with Giorno Giovanna, Dio's son… who he had with Jonathan's body (Rare thing). The anime has different musical and cultural references, for exa...
